Well this took me my surprise – I have always trusted PayPal with buyer protection, until now.

I recently purchased some items online. Site seemed legit, security certificate etc. Even allowed me to pay by PayPal, what could go wrong?

Well, after a month of not getting my item I decided to contact the seller. No response. However I did have a tracking number.

So a few online tracking sites checked and with mixed responses.

One said it was out for delivery (still does as of 10/10/24) With the one that PayPal use saying it was delivered.

So you can all see there is some discrepancy here.

After contacting PayPal, to inform them that the parcel had NOT been delivered, they informed me they had sided with the seller because they had provided a tracking number that says it was delivered.

I then replied back saying I have CCTV that clearly shows nothing was delivered at the time and date stated, or that ANY delivery’s had been made that day. Still, PayPal say they are not moving as a tracking number was provided stating it had been delivered, no proof of delivery has been made available (UK Couriers always record proof, many of them provide a photo).

I have used the tracking number on pretty much all the courier companies that deliver to my home.

Yodel – No record
UPS – No record
Royal Mail – No Record
Evri – No record
DHL – No Record

Still, PayPal say they are siding with the seller.

A bit more research into ZYYM shows that indeed, they are the courier of choice when it comes to scams. In deed, as of writing, their website was offline.

Not just their website

It is all down.

So a quick search via Google finds this interesting post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/1f53n45/got_scammed_by_bestaffordable_shops_lol_and_they/

With a very interesting comment thread:

Looking at my tracking number – there they are – Beginning with DU and ending in YM, the so called signature of a scam using ZYYM.

My case is still open, because I keep telling PayPal that this is a scam, but they seem to be oblivious to the fact. This makes me wonder now if PayPal can be trusted.

So if you have purchased something online and ZYYM is the courier, I would be 99.99% certain that you are not going to get your goods if the tracking number starts with a DU and ends with a YM.
